Fundo Puchegüín is a future protected area of 133,000 hectares in Cochamó: a key ecosystem for a biological corridor between Chile and Argentina, a carbon sink, and a freshwater reservoir. It is habitat for critically endangered species and home to communities with a deep-rooted culture that depend on these ecosystems.

Puelo Patagonia, a local nonprofit with twelve years of work in the area, is the steward of this key piece of conservation. Its work extends beyond Pucheguín’s boundaries: it drives environmental education, local development, and scientific research alongside schools, organizations, and communities in Cochamó, and protects strategic neighboring lands, because effective conservation depends on the surrounding area moving in the same direction.
